About Rosey

Hi, I'm Rosey, Jennie's dignified domestic ginger cat. I am ten years old, but still as beautiful and agile as I ever was.

Résumé

Name: Bijou June Rose (mostly called Rosey, or 'bubby girl')

Date and Place of Birth: 21st November, 1989; Melbourne, Australia (under Jennie's desk in the nesting box). I was named after Jennie's grandmother June Rose Lamond, who was also born on this date, but had died before I was born.

Address: I don't know because I'm not allowed outside

Education

I have learned that chewing and destroying Jennie's things is not a good idea. I have also learned to be quiet and stay out of the kitchen when dinner is being served, and that sharpening my claws on anything other than the post in Jennie or Ian's presence is met with much anger. I have also learned that both people and relationships can change. Though Jennie and I disagreed for many years, we now share a love and affection unmatched by our relationship in the early years. Many thanks to Carolyn Ashton for her assistance with the regeneration of Jennie's and my relationship. So the most riiecent thing I have learned is that I can fit on Jennie's lap while another cat sits on her, and Cody lies beside her on the couch. For all these years I though there wasn't enough love to go around, and now I know!

Skills

I can sharpen all 16 claws very efficiently, preferring the carpet or speaker fronts to do this. I can also jump to any height required and land perfectly. I can walk efficiently around the house without my collar bell making a sound, and I can hide for hours, even days and never be found. My best ever skill is however conning cat-haters into loving cats. Many people who previously hated cats requested that I supply them with kittens. I was happy to comply at the time. I was a really good mum too (I had 11 children all up), but I have given all that up now. The drive has gone for some reason. But I am still a QUEEN at heart.

Hobbies

Purring and smooching are my favourite daily activities now, though I still enjoy opening kitchen cupboards, Sharpening my claws on new surfaces, stealing food, eating indoor plants and acting cute when required. I also used to open doors, but my house has all round door handles now, not so easy to master as the pull-down variety.

Personality

Some people I just don't like, while others will provide a warm lap for me and not move an inch, becoming my favourites. I can turn on the charm with people who are none the wiser to my dark side, (which seems to be fading), catching one judges eye at a cat show in a big way. Mostly though, I just wish I had remained the only pet. Now I am crowded by a two dogs and two other cats (though they are my sons), and I just give up.  Although Nikita will still not cease trying to be my friend, I am finding the others more tolerable than I used to, so long as they don't try and tell me what to do. At least I can be sure I am loved, and that there is enough love to go around.

My Family Home Ian Jennie Nikita Cody Firefrost Pyrite Rosey

Firstly I own Jennie and Ian (the humans of the house), then my two sons Firefrost and Pyrite (who should have left home by now) are fun to play with, even if they do sreal my bed sometimes. Then there is Nikita (the Siberian Husky), she just doesn't get the message that I don't like her and NEVER will! And that new puppy Cody is quite friendly, and now that he has learned to keep his distance, I don't mind him being around.
