About Firefrost

Hi, I'm Firefrost the dogcat. I am eight years old this life. Many say I must have been a dog in my previous life as I do doggy things.

Résumé

Name: Bijou Wordy Firefrost (Firefrost or Frostles or 'little man' mostly though)

Date and Place of Birth: 27th September 1991, Melbourne Australia (in the nesting box in Jennie's ensuite).

Address: In an area with lots of nice houses and two pesky main roads that stop me roaming too far.

Education

I have learned that meowing for food is a bad move, but begging for it gets results. I can walk on a leash, and ride in a car: enjoying the view out the window quite well. I can sit on command and offer my paw (like waving), but I only do it for the food. I also have a pretty full understanding of doggy language, though I don't remember learning it.

Employment

The world can now appreciate my handsome face in its full glory!  I have embarked on a modelling career, first published on the front page of The Age newspaper magazine supplement (27 Aug 2000).  Here I am for you to see too!

Skills

Costing Ian money seems to be a big one, though I believe Nikita and Cody are catching up on the expense stakes! Mostly I am a cat with the skills to be a free-living dog. I come when I am called, bark for attention (a sort of a "bruh" sound) and greet the car coming up the drive (Ian says a little TOO closely). I can also open cupboards and eat through food packaging really well, but I am not so good at that cat aspect of climbing: Going up I look awkward, but you should see me coming down. I have also lived through major surgery, so I believe I am invincible!

Hobbies

One of my favourite games is playing chicken with cars (especially Ian's). I also love to fish (especially those gold coloured home grown ones), and purring is a definite favourite. I love to experiment with purring volume: seeing how loud I need to get before waking Jennie and Ian.

Personality

I am a dog in a cat's body. I am loyal, loving and understanding when Jennie or Ian are sad. I care for the sick and injured and protect the property. I am a hardy creature with an earth shattering meow (I think it's Abyssinian or Siamese like).

Favourite foods

I love dry food, enough to eat through the packaging and hog myself if Jennie or Ian leave it around. I also like elastic bands, string and wool, but they have been banned from my reach, so I don't eat them any more. My favourite though is plain raw mince (beef or roo), which I eat so quickly my body sends it back on the carpet (preferably the non-scotchguarded areas).

Health

I have been hit by a car, bitten in a catfight and internally plugged with the wool I ate. I also got a nasty virus once which not only put me off my food, but had Jennie rushing me to the vet with concern (apparently my temperature was very high). Though most things are one-off amazing feats of survival (especially that surgery to remove the wool), I am also asthmatic. Asthma is not fatally dangerous in cats, but it does have drawbacks, such as heavy wheezing, and regurgitation of entire dinner serves (which they will never let me eat again darn them!).

My Family Home Ian Jennie Nikita Cody Firefrost Pyrite Rosey

I really enjoy playing with Nikita and Cody, though they are a little overbearing with their greeting when I return home each day, and that Cody is just so pushy!  I guess we get along because they are dogs. My mother (Rosey) is a little grumpy, but I know she still loves me from the way she cleans me. Pyrite, my brother is great though: We have woken Jennie and Ian on many occasions playing chasey at 2am! Jennie has housed me since I was born, and I like to take care of her, but Ian is truly my favourite, and I will be loyal to him forever!
